Steel columns, girders and joists on a building frame

Steel joists

Joists belong in the same package as the steel they bear on. We furnish them and keep them on the same schedule as the frame, the deck and the erection.

How we do it

Joists on the same schedule as the frame.

Steel joists carry the roofs and floors of many commercial and industrial buildings. They have to land on beams and girders that are detailed, fabricated and set on time, and the deck follows right behind them.

GIW includes steel joists in our Division 5 scope along with the structural steel, deck and erection. With all of it on one contract, the joists and the frame that supports them trace back to one company and one schedule.

Our erection and decking subcontractors work on our project team, so the joists go up with the rest of the frame.

Why it matters

Joists that land
on schedule.

  • 01

    One company, frame and joists

The company detailing your beams and girders also carries the joists that sit on them.

  • 02

    One schedule

Joists, deck and structural steel follow the same project schedule.

  • 03

    Fewer contracts

Joists stay in the Division 5 package instead of on a separate purchase.
