The machines behind the tonnage.
GIW welcomes fabrication work from as little as 1 ton to over 1,000 tons. Our equipment is CNC-controlled and well maintained.

Anglemaster AFCPS 623
Holes in connection material and brace angles, plus simple cut-to-length work.
Peddi-Bot 1250 ST.
The newest machine on our floor is a Peddinghaus Peddi-Bot 1250 ST, a robotic CNC thermal cutting line for beam processing. It replaced our older robotic thermal cutting line.
The footage here was shot by drone when the line was installed: the machine at the end of its roller conveyor, looking back down the bay. Video of it cutting steel is coming soon.
Current equipment, 2026.
The list from our 2026 equipment review. Every major operation runs under CNC control, fed from computer-generated shop drawings.

Drilling & Punching
Hole making is a key part of structural fabrication, for efficient shop and field assembly. We run automated and manual systems to suit each project.
- PCD 1100 drill line with 5-station tool changer and high-speed carbide drilling
- Peddinghaus Anglemaster AFCPS 623 for holes in connection material, brace angles or simple cut-to-length
- Piranha P-90 ironworker
- Multiple magnetic-base core drills
The building
A 32,000 sq. ft. fabrication shop at 456 N. Broadway in Aurora, Illinois, served by the cranes and conveyor above.
Plate Laser
A new plate laser and a new shop layout are on the way. Photos and video go up here once they're running.
Twenty-ton picks, in tandem.
One 20-ton bridge crane spans 76 feet, and four 10-ton bridge cranes can work in tandem for 20-ton picks. Floor and wall-mounted jib cranes handle the smaller lifts at the workstations.
A 510-foot roller conveyor, with horizontal transfers from conveyor to conveyor or to exit, keeps material moving between the machines.
